Last year when I was in Aruba, I used my laptop and Goggle Talk. No charge at all as long as you have internet access. At the Bucuti internet access is free and I believe some other hotels as well. Install Google Talk on your laptop, ipad, iphone etc. make sure you have a microphone, make sure if your not using a laptop to shut off the cell and data features. I will try the iphone and my HP touchpad next month at the Bucuti. I feel 2 bucks a minute is too much.

We used 'Skype'. Free download and 2.3 cents a minute for US calls when dialed to a land-line. Skype to Skype calls are free, even with video. Make sure you register it in US. My daughter vacationed in Mexico and we took care of her two daughters. They were able to talk and see her and their father almost every night they were gone. She was running it on an Ipad II. _________________ John...

My parents are getting ready to use our week at La Cabana next week.
It just so happens, my wife is getting ready to give birth to our first (and their first grandchild).
They'd like to keep in touch somewhat while on the island (funny, when we're down there, we like to fall out of touch).
What is the best way for them to make calls from the island back to the United States?
And by best, I mean "cheapest".
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. |
