What is the difference between Renaissance Island and DePalm Island?
I know DePalm is a tour excursion island and the other is part of a hotel.
Is the Renaissance Island so different that it should be a day event?

I just found out that Renaissance Island has raised their fee again for non-guests. It's $100/person and includes lunch and one drink. For the price, I think DePalm Island is a much better deal and offers alot more activities (plus unlimited food/drinks.)
I was on Ren Island only once for a wedding. It's nice, has a couple of different beaches, you can snorkel...but other than that, it's just a place to enjoy the water and hang out. Only reason I would want to go back is to see the flamingoes again but I'm not paying $100 just for that. _________________ ~Amy~®

I would have to agree that for what you get for the money, De Palm Island is a better value. _________________ www.arubabound.com ~ www.hoosierkitties.com

If you do go to DePalm, I would check the cruise schedule in advance and go on a non-cruise ship day when it won't be as crowded. _________________ ~Amy~®

Good point, is there a normal schedule, or does it vary?
Where would one look for that schedule? _________________ Dec 7-14, 2012: 1st Trip to Aruba PHOTOS

Since my dates are 6-13 the 7 & 8 (Sat/Sun) seems like good dates. _________________ Dec 7-14, 2012: 1st Trip to Aruba PHOTOS

I like DePalm Island. I LOVE the private island at the Ren - maybe it's because we add a couple of days onto our vacation by staying at the Ren using Marriott points and don't have to pay the $100 for non-guests.
I guess it depends what you like more. We like staying on the adult side where the flamingos are. Very peaceful and quiet day. Snorkel a little and use floats. _________________ Cabo San Lucas November 2013
