Ok I'm going to Paris, with a river cruise on the Seine to Normandy and back to Paris!!! I can't believe this!
Amy - any ideas? Been to Norte Dame, and Eiffel Tower. Is that Moulin Rouge a tourist trap??
Anybody been to The Normandy area? _________________ Christmas 2015 at Disney World!

Good morning Corrine,
Wow, wow and double wow!! Ooh-la-la (That's French for "holy crap!").
When is your bday Corrine? You just know everyone from here will want to send you their very best wishes.
When is the trip? Whenever it is, you will have a wonderful time!
You're a bit of a romantic, aren't you? Then follow this next bit.
Ok, and I ask this of Amy when she goes there. Did you ever see the movie "Something's Gotta Give" with Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson? Rent it or down load it, and pay attention to the second to last scene. Diane and Jack are standing on a bridge in Paris at night, the Eiffel Tower lit up in the background. That scene is over-the-top romantic. Well, yes, of course that's what I would like you and your husband to do.
Anyway, enjoy, enjoy and enjoy.
Wonderful news!
Glenn

Corinne, Moulin Rouge is a tourist trap, but if you want to see a show, just go there. I go to Paris every year, but just for shopping and eating.
Where in Normandy will you stay? It is one of my favorite parts of France. Must sees are Honfleur (if you want to see a fun small museum, visit the former house of Satie), the Bayeux carpet and the embarquement beaches. I personally liked the museum or the airborne troups at Sainte Mere Eglise (Band of Brothers). Also the food and drinks are amazing. Good fish, shellfish and apple-pies (tarte tatin), but also nice cheeses. Ah, I wish I was there now. |

So excited for you, Corrine! Love, love Paris! I will send you a message via Facebook on some of the other things we've done there beyond the usual touristy stuff.
And yes, I agree, Moulin Rouge is a tourist trap but...if you want to go, just go.
If you like Monet, this is an amazing museum/mansion with the largest collection of Monets (it's one of our favorites - and there is a cute little park right across the street): http://www.marmottan.fr/uk/
You can also do a day trip out to Versailles - take the 8am RER and get there when they open the doors before the tour buses get there. We spent all day there and took the train back to Paris around 4pm. It's about a 30 minute ride.
The Rodin museum is also nice and doesn't take very long - very pretty gadrens and a nice place for a cup of coffee.
We loved the shops and cafes in the Marais District.
I'm not sure what you like to do so I'll have to send you a msg via FB. _________________ ~Amy~®

Totally agree about the Marmottan museum, forgot about that. And if you have the possibility, visit Monets house and garden at Giverny (Normandy). One of the most pretty places I have been to. |
