to stay at the Marriott or Playa Linda which would you pick? We like people around and don't want it quiet. There will be us and then a couple of 25 yr olds. We will be there sometime in February. Like swim up bar, take our own cooler down to the pool and people watch. Thanks! |

You will find alot of people at both places - especially in Feb.
Marriott has a swim-up bar and Playa Linda does not.
If you want a kitchen, then Playa Linda since they're timeshares.
I'm assuming you're talking about the Marriott Stellaris, correct? That is a full service hotel so you'll find more amenities there. _________________ ~Amy~®

Thanks Amy. We are actually looking at renting a condo (at either place). We have stayed at the Marriott a few years ago and loved it. We do realize that February is busy but love getting away from Minnesota during that month. We were just curious on how the 2 places compared. |

Which Marriott are you looking at? There are 3. Marriott Stellaris (hotel), Marriott Ocean Club (timeshares), and Marriott Surf Club (timeshares.). All 3 have slighly different amenities and you're only allowed to use the amenities at the one you're staying at.
For example, Marriott Stellaris is the only one of those 3 with a swim-up bar. The Surf Club has a lazy river but only those staying at the Surf Club are allowed to use it.
So before comparing to Playa Linda, need to know which Marriott you're considering. _________________ ~Amy~®

Last time we stayed at the Marriott Surf but we had a swim up bar that was connected to the pool (the one that had the lazy river). Did things change? I am thinking we want to stay at the same one. We loved the pool. I was thinking there were only 2 Marriotts when we were there--Ocean & Surf. It has been a few years. |

The hotel (Marriott Stellaris) was the first Marriott built and it's a hotel/resort, not a timeshare and it's on the north end, then the Ocean Club is in the middle, and then the Surf Club at the south end of "Marriottville". Ocean Club and Surf Club are both timeshares.
I was not aware that Surf Club had a swim up bar. Never heard anyone talk about it, I guess.
From what I can tell, I think you'll be happier at the Marriott over the Playa Linda. The Playa Linda's pool and pool area is much smaller. _________________ ~Amy~®

Just want to say it is very hard to get any papalas close to the beach at the Marrior Surf Club. They line up at 3 p.m. to get them for the next day, and then again at 6 a.m. to get what is left for that day. Some you have to pay for. We were there recently and never sat close enough to see the ocean. Also you have to buy your own tube for the Lazy River, and when we were there they ran out. Had to go out on the beach to a little store and find some. They do have a swim up bar, but it is very small. I think 6 or 8 seats. _________________ Help Aruba animals
