I departed on FRIDAY, the 21st. I arrived two and a half hours before my scheduled departure. When I arrived at the US customs room, the room was FULL and the line was out the door by a few people. Yes, I said out the door.

It took me TWO HOURS to get through customs.

They had two or three customs agents working at a time. I asked the person at the head of the line who tells you which agent to go too and he said it has been like this EVERYDAY for a few months now and we are just going into the busy season.

So, you have been warned, assume everyday is now Saturday when you depart Aruba.

You were also flying during high season. Alot more flights during high season equals more people arriving/departing.

We departed on a Saturday this past Sept. I usually try to avoid weekends (and Fridays) but we had to abide by my husband's work schedule for this trip. It took us 1 and a half hours from check-in to the gate.

But for those who are traveling during high season, you should give yourselves plenty of time (I would arrive 3 hours prior to my flight) when departing. Better safe than sorry.

In November arrived 3 hours before flight. Long lines at check in, but flying first class so no real issue. Short line (20 or so) at immigration and Aruba security. US security and customs lines were shorter. Less than an hour to gate.

It was Saturday, November 24th. Flight time was 2;30.

I'm sure they will. After all, it is high season now.

I read in USA Today that the US TSA was no longer going to make passenger go through "double" scanners and security. If you made it through one secure area you should be ok for the US. They mentioned Aruba as one of these airports. Has this been changed yet? You would think it would be pretty easy to remove "a system" then to add it.
