Okay, it has been about 4 years since my last visit to Yemanja. Not sure why, just didn't get around to it. What a great feed we all had last night. There was Mrs. 44, myself, and two friends. Fine company, excellent food. Here's how it went.

We belly up to the bar for a few drinks then take a table for four. Start with appetizers. Scallop salad, prosciutto salad, bowl of tomato soup, bowl of potato soup. All four strikingly good, all four very different. My prosciutto salad had both the crispy variety and regular. Added a dash of crunch and salt to go with a pile of green goodness. Really, it was outstanding. Mrs. 44 reports the same for the scallop salad, and our friends gobbled up the soups all the way to the bottom. Next, entrees. One grouper wrapped around cheese: exotic and reportedly tasty if a bit strange. One ribe-eye cooked to perfection, 14oz of real beef. Two tenderloins also cooked exactly right. Here's the kicker: the tenderloins came with a small dish of melted butter atop beef juice, holy guacomoolllly cholesterol meter pegged but delicious dip. There were sides of rice, garlic mashed, some veggies. Yeah, as if that wasn't enough, dessert was a brownie with ice-cream and a banana tarte also with ice-cream. Through the meal, wine, drinks, and a gallon of water. Ambience nice, could have used a little more airco.

This meal took a shark bite out of the wallet. There were at least 4 glasses of wine and I think 5 mixed drinks to go with the above plates of chow. Total cost, including tip: call it $310 US. I'm on rice, beans, and cheap Colombian joints until the wallet gets a recharge. But, you know, excellent service, top-notch food, decent atmosphere. I'm pleased to say, worth it for a special night out.

Photos of that glorious meal are at:

Bon dia.

We love Yemanja but, like you, haven't been there in a couple of years for some reason. Definitely need to get back there for dinner. Very Happy

One of my favorites, too. Went there 4 years ago and didn't return until last year because my husband remembered wrongly that food wasn't that great. COuld convince him to go back and proof him that he was wrong. On our to do list now every year.
