Hi again Cathy,

As I think I mentioned on your other thread, we'll be in Aruba once again, but not until Jan. January 14-24, 2011 to be exact.

I hope some of our bb friends are there at the same time as you and your girlfriends.

My wife's favourite shopping areas are both in Oranjestad. Her favourite jeweller is Desh's shop, "Jewels in Paradise" in the Renaissance Marketplace. I buy her something from there evrytime. Also is Reniassance Marketplace is a womens' clothing store, Javaruba. I usually sit in the shade on a stone bench outside the Seaport Casino while she tries (and buys) on clthes and chats with the owner.

She also loves the shops along Mainstreet. We always make sure though that we stay out of the stores on cruiseship days. The prices go up considerably when the "boat people" are in town.

Restaurant-wise, and these depend so much on personal taste, we enjoy Papillon, El Gaucho, Bingo and Linda's Pannekoken. For Italian food, Sol Mare serves some of the most decadent dishes we've eaten anywhere.

Anyway Cathy, I hope you and your girlfriends have a wonderful time when you are there.

Thanks Glenn for all the helpful information! Is there a way to find out when the cruise ships are in town?
I know we will have a great time and I will do my best to post a report when we return.

ps just found out this past sat. evening that my husband is taking me to Aruba in Feb. along with 3 other couples! It was supposed to be a surprise (he wasn't going to tell me until xmas!) but someone let it slip!
I will checak out that jewelry shop when I have him with me... and I'm gonna keep that a secret till I get him downtown! lol

Was it for an anniversary, a birthday, or just for you being you?

Since I'll be there in January, I'll make sure I warm up the stone bench at Renaissance Marketplace for your husband. (It's half way down the marketplace, under a palm tree and right opposite the entrance to the Seaport Casino.)

I usually sit there and watch the boats in the harbour while Donna shops (and shops, and shops...). Jewels in Paradise is in the centre part of the market.

What we found with shopping is; it's never about getting a good price on something we can get back home. It's always about finding that special something you know you'll never find at home, especially when it comes to jewelry.

Thanks Amy..looks like tuesday will be the only day no "boat people" are there!

Hey Glen my husband will appreciate you keeping that bench warm for him! lol
And no special reason for the trip.... just because hes a good husband and he still loves me after 27 years! We both love Aruba although he has only been there one time.

My wife Nancy and I will be at the BB Party on the the 25th for Happy Hour at the Amsterdam beach bar. We'll be in Aruba from the 21st>30th staying at the Radisson. See you there!
