We are planning our third trip to the island and would like to try something different. Was wondering your thoughts about DePalm Island...ever been?
How about Renaissance's private island, if Im not a guest can I pay to go there for the day?
How do the two compare??
Thanks for any help you can give me! |

If you're not staying at the Renaissance, you have to pay $75/person to use their private island - that price includes a lunch and one drink.
We haven't been to DePalm Island in years - we used to go there before it was all-inclusive.
We went to Ren Island last Sept. for a friend's wedding and reception. Although nice, it's not worth $75/person. I would pick DePalm Island - they have a ton of big blue parrot fish that you'll see while snorkeling. Not sure what their food and drinks are like but it is all-inclusive with the price so at least you can eat/drink whatever and whenever you want for the day. _________________ ~Amy~®

I guess I was leaning more toward DePalm Island and your response pretty much made up my mind.
I noticed your going later than usual this year, you usually go towards the end of April right? I thought maybe we would be on the same flight lol.
Thanks again for your help!

Yeah, I usually go late April but hubby wanted to go on this trip (I usually do a girls trip in April). He couldn't get away from work in April so we had to push it back a couple of weeks into May.
When are you going to be there? That would have been funny if we were on the same flight but it sounds like I'm just going to miss you. _________________ ~Amy~®

We loved DePalm Island - the water park, the snorkeling and feeding the fish, the private cove to swim. The food wasn't bad at all and you had free drinks as well. I think we are going back this year with our daughter! _________________ Christmas 2015 at Disney World!

Depalm was okay for us. Great for snorkeling and for kids. My wife and I went there 3 years ago and probably wouldn't go again. It's just our preference. Yes, they have all you and eat and drink, which is nice, but we didn't care for the food all that much. Perhaps it's changed since then, so I would recommend trying just once for experience. _________________ Mike

Mike - When I went last year, our friends said that the "chef" has changed and the food is better than years ago! This was at the buffet only. _________________ Christmas 2015 at Disney World!

Hi Corrine: That explains it. When we were there, most everything we tried tasted bland. It's good to hear they changed it. Maybe we might try it again for my mother-in-law to experience it. Thanks for the tip! _________________ Mike

Yes all beverages, alcoholic and non-alcoholic are included. But I think it is only beer and a selection of frozen drinks.
Everyone is welcome! I went with a group aged 57-7 and I dont know who had more fun!
The problem is the price. I think it is around $80 per person. When I checked the DePalm website for this year, they certainly aren't making it easy to see the price! _________________ Christmas 2015 at Disney World!

Our experience is old...before the all-inclusive days. We DID enjoy it a few times.
All the same, too many people seem to say the price is just OK, but not great...and VERY busy on days when cruise ship passengers swarm the place. Only based on what I have read, I'd say it is better when a cruise ship is NOT in port. They are bringing a lot of people from the ships as a tour from the ship. |

Thanks for that tip, John! We enjoyed a nice uncrowded day last year! _________________ Christmas 2015 at Disney World!

In all the trips we have taken to Aruba, we have never visited DePalm Island. Looks interesting, maybe this year. _________________ Lenny |
