By the time a man is wise enough to watch his step, he's too old to go anywhere.

It has been my experience that folks who have no vices have very few virtues.

If the Arabs lay down their arms there will be no war tomorrow, if Israel lays down its arms there will be no Israel.

I am willing to remain and play the man's game if there are not enough boats for more than the women and children.
Tell my wife I played the game straight out and to the end. No woman shall be left aboard this ship because
Ben Guggenheim is a coward.
---Final words of Benjamin Guggenheim, millionaire traveler aboard the ill-fated Titanic.
As the boat began to sink Guggenheim changed into formal dress and calmly faced death. _________________

Many a man who falls in love with a dimple make the mistake of marrying the whole girl.

A child of five would understand this. Quick, send someone to fetch a child of five.

So great has been the endurance, so incredible the achievement, that, as long as the sun keeps a set course in heaven, it would be foolish to despair of the human race.

The Internet is like alcohol in some sense. It accentuates what you would do anyway. If you want to be a loner, you can be more alone. If you want to connect, it makes it easier to connect.

Interesting to read this tonight when I heard a discussion today about the US Air flight that landed in the Hudson River in January.
Despite the good outcome, they said it was chaotic. They said "women and children first", but the comments were that people were crawling across the tops of seats to get out.
Don't know what I would do, but thankfully, I wasn't there. I am too old to fight anyone for first place in line...whatever the circumstances. |

We are continually faced with a series of great opportunities brilliantly disguised as insoluble problems.

One of the most obvious facts about grownups to a child is that they have forgotten what it is like to be a child.
