Thank you, Carol! The few times I went snorkeling I either had to chase Jamie, who swam to shore once or deal with my cursing husband, getting water in his goggles or cut myself on coral. I had only seen the checkerboard fish before. Now I see that there are some cool fish down there!

Those are great photos! It's almost like the fish were posing for you! I tried a couple of times to take photos with an underwater camera and am no good at it - seems like I can never get the entire fish in the photo!

I didn't even know fish could play checkers.

Thanks everyone!
Amy it's easy if you have the right camera. I have the Olympus 720SW, and it's so easy to use. You have a nice big 2.5 LCD screen, so you just click away. Besides, since it's digital, you can keep what you want and delete the rest.

What was the area you were snorkling at? Nice photos we seen have many of those species of fish on our trip a week ago. Some of our favorite spots were Malmok and Boca Catilina.

These pictures were at Mike's Reef on the Tranquilo full day South Side Cruise. Normally we go out on both the Tranquilo and the Octopus snorkeling each week while we're in Aruba. However, the weather conditions didn't cooperate this last trip. We were able to go out twice on the Tranquilo, but didn't get out snorkeling on the Octopus. Instead we went out on a sunset cruise on the Octopus. We missed the snorkeling on the Octopus, but really enjoyed the sunset cruise.
Even getting out snorkeling on the Tranquilo wasn't easy. The first cruise on the Tranquilo was the normal cruise leaving from Palm Beach. That was the last "normal" cruise they did while we were there. The second cruise was the following week, and we left from the marina in town. We were only able to do that cruise since Anthony had moved the boat up to the marina before the bad weather settled in. We had a little rain during the "bad weather", but mainly the seas got rough. A lot of the boats took shelter in town or in the protected area by the airport.

Here's a few other underwater, non-fish pictures. The first one is a coral formation that looked like a woman's head to me. It looked like a face with "yellow hair". The second one is a brain coral that really looked like a brain to me. Th third one is a picture of a sea cucumber that we found. We didn't know what it was, but Anthony was able to tell us when we asked.
