Thanks for the photo, Tom! I don't know why I didn't take any photos of it while I was there (think I was too depressed about it becoming such a monster of a hotel!)
But it will look nice when it's finished.....may have to splurge when it reopens and stay there for a few days (if we can afford it!) The Riu's Palace hotels are very high end!

I recently saw an ad on TV for the Riu Hotel in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.
It looked really lavish and grand.
Wonder if the Aruba version will look the same?

Riu has different levels of their hotels and the one in Aruba is supposed to be a Riu Palace which is the high end of their hotels (top shelf alcohol, high end cuisine, etc.) Of course, the price reflects that, too. We stayed at a Riu hotel in Playa del Carmen which was very nice (and decently priced) but the Riu Palace which was next door was MUCH nicer!
This is what the old Grand will eventually look like:

Another photo of the Grand's construction. This was taken from a balcony at the Radisson looking toward the Grand (old Grand bldg to the right) and the Wyndham in the background.

You could probably stay four WEEKS at the Paradara for one night there!! I've read that it is ridiculously expensive.

Oh -- one of those veddy veddy posh places.
If I paid that much I'd want a guaranteed spot on the beach for sure.
(And Gordon Ramsey to cook my meals.)

Friends just priced it out for late fall. It came in at about $800/day for a "good room".
