“Every moment one lives is different from the other. The good, the bad, hardship, the joy, the tragedy, love, and happiness are all interwoven into one single, indescribable whole that is called life. You cannot separate the good from the bad. And perhaps there is no need to do so, either.”
Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis (1929-1994), wife of John F. Kennedy during his presidency. _________________ Life is what we make it, always has been, always will be - Grandma Moses (1860 - 1961) |

Nothing is a greater impediment to being on good terms with others than being ill at ease with yourself.

While the lives of our elders, our vulnerable, and essential workers are at stake during the COVID-19 pandemic, tens of millions of us across the globe have been restraining ourselves at home, choosing not to do many things for many weeks in order to protect those we love (and those others love as well). Surely the earth is breathing a sigh of relief for our reduction in pollution and fossil fuel use.
-- from a morning meditation by Fr. Richard Rohr, Franciscan priest. _________________ Life is what we make it, always has been, always will be - Grandma Moses (1860 - 1961) |

Consult not your fears but your hopes and your dreams. Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in, but with what it is still possible for you to do.

You may have heard the beginning of Shakespeare's Sonnet 18:
Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer’s lease hath all too short a date;
But the ending is:
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’st;
Nor shall death brag thou wander’st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow’st:
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.
-- last lines quoted today on TV.
-- William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616)

You keep asking what it means to be a man, and the truth is, there’s not just one way. Every morning you get up there’s a thousand chances to do the right thing, be a good man. Hopefully you get most of them right; you’re not gonna get all of them right. ~Roy Brown (The Middle, Mike Heck to Brick) _________________

I savor life. When you have anything that threatens life... it prods you into stepping back and really appreciating the value of life and taking from it what you can.
