my wife and I were in Aruba several years ago for 5 days. didn't really do much other than enjoy the great weather, pool and beach. we will be back for a week jan25-feb1. are there any suggestions for "must see" or "must do" this time around. we are both early 60's, very active and fit |

The island is not very large. You can see most of the sites when you take a jeeptour. We have good experiences with ABC tours. If you like snorkeling you can book many snorkel tours. I prefer the daytrip with the Tranquilo or the 2 hour snorkel with Aruba Bob. The last one is a totally different experience that is not for everybody. And I would take a lunch at Zeerovers. Enjoy! |

Rent a car and "get lost" on the island.
I always visit the Alto Vista Chapel, no matter how many times I go to Aruba, I always make my way there.
Then there's the Casibari Rock Formations, the California Light house and of course the many different beaches. (Baby Beach, Rodgers Beach, Arashi, etc.)
Hope this helps.

My wife and I did: The Pirate Ship, ABC Safari Island Tour, and the Tranquilo 6 hour tour. By far our favorite was The Tranquilo. When we talk or remember our last trip, The Tranquilo is always our fondest memory! _________________ My prescription for Happiness: My wife, a warm sandy beach, a palapa, & a cold Balashi ! |

The Donkey Santuary if you are into that. Free, just bring a big bag of carrots. _________________

Even if you are not a history buff, visit the Colony at the southern end of the island where the refinery is. Drive up to Colorado Point and view the watch tower, base of gun turrets (there are 5 or 6) and bunkers that were built around 1940. At that time the refinery was the largest in the world. And because of that and due to the war, many branches of the military service were stationed on the island. I never miss a chance to visit the site every time I go back. Many memories for those of us who were there during those years.
And as a precaution, never leave personal items in your car; always lock them in the trunk if you plan on being away from your car even for a short time. The site overlooking the Caribbean Sea is breath taking.
Have a wonderful trip,
