Just heard that, in addition to Subway, Dunkin Donuts and a new restaurant called Ginger are now open, too. _________________ ~Amy~®

Amy,
You're right on! The Dunkin' is open and Ginger, too. I'm going to try it in a week or so.
Bon dia.

Let us know what you think about Ginger and if they have outdoor seating, too. Thanks! _________________ ~Amy~®

Yeah! Glad to hear Dunkin Donuts is open again. We stay at Manchebo and always buy a travel cup there and get iced coffee refills all week. We missed it so much last year! I like Lazy Lizard too! _________________

We ate at Ginger and the food was excellent. We did take out which is a nice feature. The bartender told my husband that in about a month there is going to be a piano bar right across from Ginger and I believe there is going to be outside seating. One thing I would like to mention is be very careful walking around the new mall area. The tiles are not level and I caught the toe of my sandal on a tile and fell down on all fours. Only bruising and soreness for me, but I heard on the beach that someone broke a wrist and someone else broke an ankle over the very same thing. |

Hi everybody,
Glad to hear that things are moving along at Alhambra.
I was perhaps being overly sentimental, but when I initially heard about the renovations at Alhambra and the site-redevelopment I was kind of hoping that there might be a re-incarnation of the New York style deli that was there when the Alhambra first opened; it was during the late 80's if I recall correctly.
Anybody else remember the deli? It was my first time having pastrami on rye.

How well we remember the New York Deli at the Alhambra. Started eating there in 1984. We do miss it but feel something like that will never return to Aruba. |

Good morning,
Thanks Edna for your comments. I wasn't sure if anyone else would remember the New York Deli.
As to whether we'll see that type of eatery in Aruba again and as to why we wouldn't is a bit puzzling to me, but perhaps that's a topic for another thread. We just know the deli isn't going to re-appear at the Alhambra, at least not on this round of renos. Subway; yeesh.
