Best Honeymoon at Manchebo
- by
Kevin
November 01, 2010

My wife and I were lucky enough to stay at Manchebo for our honeymoon in October...it was the best 10 days of our life. After being referred to the resort by a friend, we didn't know what to expect when we checked in. However, we quickly saw how nice everyone was. A congratulatory bottle of champagne waited for us in our room, along with a great view out our back sliding door. It was 10 yards to the sand and about another 100 to the water. Because there are only 70 rooms, we quickly became familiar with many of the other guests and even became friends with another couple. Throughout our trip, we explored all of the island (thanks to renting cars and jeeps right from the front desk) and by far the beach at Manchebo is the BEST on the island. Plenty of room between palm cabanas, and even when every one was taken, the beach was still quiet. I could go on and on, but the best way to sum it up...we are planning our trip back for our 1st anniversary next fall (nothing could beat Manchebo). Thanks for a great time!

the hotel and people that work at the hotel are GREAT!!! Nyoka, Iggy, Gerald, Jean, Ada, Jocasta, John are all memorable people that we will never forget. We will be returning and I will be getting married at this beach location!! I did notice that there are many different foods but more can be done...example: we had the chocolate moose put in a canolli shell...MUST BE ON THE MENU IT was SOOOOOO GOOD!! :) the food was amazing and should be experimented with a little more. It is so good that even better foods can be made. we cant wait to come back and enjoy all that you offer!!!

Great place! We will return, exactly what we wanted for our honeymoon! Hotel has 70 rooms, 2 restaurants and a pool (plus beach bar). No casino's and theaters, which is great if you're not the kind of "mass-holiday" fan. The service is very personal and super friendly. All of the people that work there, will help you with almost anything you come with. You get beach towels for use on the largest and most beautiful beach on Aruba, more than enough space there. The restaurants are great, you can eat in ofter if you don't want to drive around. Rooms are nice and big, super clean. We had a GREAT honeymoon here!

My husband and I went to celebrate our 18th year anniversary and my 40th. I chose the property for it's size and spa. We were more than impressed. The food was beyond delicious. The staff were amazingly friendly. We were on a first name basis the second day. The spa was nothing like I've ever experienced before. My husband and I had a couples massage in the cabana's on the beach with the breeze blowing and the sound of the ocean echoing, we both fell asleep. Very clean. Rooms are not fancy, but I didn't want nor need that as long as they were clean and they were. We checked in a little early and they were washing my bed spread!!!! Thats a little pet peeve of mine so it worked for me. We had sliders out to the beach and had a few friendly iguana visitors.:-)I don't think we'll ever go anywhere else again!!

Great Time at Manchebo!

After much review and other investigation, we decided that the 71 room, beach front Manchebo Resort was for us. We were not disappointed. We are a couple that has been fortunate to visit many islands in the Caribbean and South Pacific. Here is a brief listing of our experience at the Manchebo and of Aruba.

Manchebo- rooms are clean and very adequate, especially if you are spending most of your days outside as we did. New beds were installed while we were there although I thought the original bed was extremely comfortable! The fridge in the room is large enough to hold your restaurant leftovers, several bottles of rum, beer, juice, etc. The room attendants were always available to clean your room or easy to find if you needed anything. The staff at Manchebo are very friendly and most seemed eager to be of assistance. The front desk staff assisted us with dinner reservations, snorkel excursions, car rental ($85 for three days!), etc. Drinks at the Pega Pega are very good- Fanny, Giovanny, and Ignacio (aka Smily) are all very friendly and willing to accomodate drink requests. We also had lunch at the Pega Pega several days because it is so easy, the people very friendly, and you can't beat the view of the beach. We thought the food was good- if you are hungry and don't have overwhelming expectations, it is a good choice. We did have breakfast a few mornings at the Garden Terrace- the food was fine, sevice very good (morning paper included), however the meals are a little pricey. The French Steakhouse was mixed for us- the Churasso steak was awesome- the pan fried grouper was too greasy for my taste. Also heard a comment from another guest that the ribs he ordered were inedible.

Other food within walking distance- from others reports, we had to try Pizza Bob's (twice!). We found the pizza to be very much to our liking- again, very nice staff, outdoor seating, and pretty good prices- also leftovers for lunch! Dushi Bagels was a nice spot for us to have a egg/bacon/cheese sandwich on a bagel, croissant, or roll, including a small coffee for $5- liked being able to sit outside for breakfast rather than the Dunkin Dounuts alternative- although great dounuts and ok egg sandwiches at DD. We also walked down the beach to Matthew's- HUGE glass of $5 wine, great salad and surf and turf (steak and shrimp) dinner- great ocean view ambiance- we missed the Tuesday night rib feast here that other guests raved about.

I may have missed something, but I expected more fish dishes for this being an island- seems steak and meat are the main items on most menus and the token fish dish is usually pan fried. Madame Janette's was my favorite restaurant- loved the food, service, and ambiance. Ate in town at Iguana Joe's- it was ok. Also ate at Sunset Bistro- this too was only ok. Also ate at Salt-N-Pepper -tapas- which were very marginal.

Aruba was a very easy island vacation- almost too familiar. Loved the beach snorkeling off Arashi and Malmok beaches. Although you can snorkel from the beaches where the snorkel boat tours go, the Jolly Pirate was fun- nice to get out on the water, and the rope swing was a blast- wish they gave more time for the swing as everyone in our group was lined up for the experience (2 swings were all we got). The driving can be intimidating at first, but once you get the hang of it, we thought it pretty easy to get around.
I loved the weather! For me the ocean and air temp were very pleasing. Clouds and very brief showers added a nice variety- we snorkeled in a passing rain shower and it only added to our experience- I couldn't believe that I was not cold, as opposed to the Cook Islands where you could see your breath in the never ending rain!

Manchebo stay

October 14, 2005

Just got back from the Manchebo Resort and it was fantastic !! we normally stay at the Wyndham so we were alittle concerned, well, there were ALWAYS huts to be had (all day - every day) and the beach puts the "high rise" section to shame...sure it was not as "fancy" as thw Wyndham but the pure calmness of no children, loud pool games, etc. made this place well worth it!!! OK, it was DEAD at night..SO WHAT??!! I like quiet sunsets and a beach you could sit on at night and just veg. the food there was really good, the people just awesome and the 2 free computers in the open lobby were really helpfull contacting home etc. theres a Casino within a 3 min. walk and a night time shopping area (very nice).... we paid $1616 for 2 w/air (from BWI) for a 5 nts. superior ocean view room..WOW,the views from the room were just awesome, from room to beach was about 1-2 min. !!! go to Manchebo !!!!p.s. I never seen so many LARGE lizards all over !!! cool.

This was our first year at the Manchebo. We chose it because it is right on the beach, has an excellent restaurant, and has easy access to the parking lot.

I asked for a room that was close to things so that too much walking was not required. Vivian gave us room 15 ? an ocean view close to the lobby and the parking lot. It was perfect.

Our room had two very comfortable beds with lots of pillows, a table and comfortable chairs for lunching in, a ceiling fan, an excellent air conditioner, a small fridge, coffeemaker, iron (yeh, right), and hair drier. There is a safe in the closet and plenty of hangers as well. The bathroom vanity had more than sufficient space for toiletries and the shower was strong. The tub had six corner shelves for soap etc and a clothesline as well. We were quite pleased.

The resort is small ? 71 rooms ? with a wide beach, the best steakhouse on the island, and a good sized bar between the beach and the pool. There is a computer with free internet access in the lobby and a well stocked mini mart.

The Manchebo has a beautiful new spa. We did not use the spa this trip but we met folks who did and they were very happy with the services.

The staff at the Manchebo is excellent ? friendly and highly competent.

We went to Aruba 3 years ago. We chose the Manchebo, because the price was right and it looked ok.
It was much better than we expected. The rooms have everything you need including an iron and ironing board. The beach bar is very nice with a great two for one happy hour and nice things to eat, great music and a happy friendly bartender. The beach is huge with plenty of palapalas. The restaurant in the open air area is very good and has live music! We had our breakfast at the poolside, very nice! The staff is always friendly and helpful. There is internet at the front desk. We hope to return there next year!

We Love the Manchebo

My husband and I went to Aruba for the first time 2 years ago. We chose the Manchebo, because friends of ours stayed there and loved it. We loved it! The rooms are nothing fancy but have everything you need including a safe, a mini fridge and an iron and ironing board. We had a king size bed on the second floor. The hotel sits right on the best beach in all of Aruba and the view is breath taking. The beach is huge with plenty of palapalas. You are never one on top of the other on the beach, like you can be at the high rise areas. The beach bar is excellent with a great two for one happy hour with entertainment and the French Steak House is one of the best restaurants on the island. There is an indoor restaurant and an open air area and also poolside seating. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They also have free internet at the front desk. They also now have an outdoor spa where you can get massages and other indulgences in beautiful huts on the beach. Needless to say we returned to the Manchebo this year and we will stay there on our next return. You will not be dissapointed with the Manchebo.
