I had to laugh out loud at
a -- the contents of your fridge (though I shouldn't be surprised)
b -- that silly expression on the donkeys' faces

I took the frig photo for Stacy's benefit (it was before she arrived). I knew she'd be proud of me for taking a stupid photo (she is known for those!) So I just had to add it to my trip report photos! Laughing

And the donkeys....they were just so darn cute! I took a ton of donkey photos. Stacy got a classic shot of a couple of donkeys rolling in the dirt on their backs with their legs in the air! They loved us this year since we brought 3 bags of carrots with us!

Did you feed them in the yard or wait until you got to the porch?

Tried to feed them in the yard first....not a good idea! It was like a bad horror movie with donkeys - When Donkeys Attack! Laughing

Up to the porch for most of the time. Then afterwards they didn't seem quite as ravenous so we were able to walk around the yard with carrots in our hands. Took a few carrots to a couple of donkeys in the pens toward the back. One had been hit by a car and had a broken ankle (or whatever you call a donkey ankle) and he had a hard time walking. The other was just a baby and looked kind of dinged up (bump on his back) - he was a little shy at first but got used to us right away after he discovered we brought carrots and liked to have his nose scratched.

Very, very hot in the donkey sanctuary - the wind just doesn't get in there for some reason. My shirt was soaked by the time we left.

I also loved the one with the 2 donkey noses!
