Our normal trips to Aruba are in January. In March, 2005 Apple Vacations listed a special - $560.00 per person to Aruba including hotel. It happened to fall on Karen's birthday in April, so we decided to go. We had discussed buying a house & did some looking on our Jan. trip. Mostly checked out what locations we preferred.

After arriving, I made an appointment with a realtor (Absolute) to see what they had available. Since it was Karen's birthday, I left her lying on the beach while I headed off for the appointment. I was shown about 5 houses, including the one we bought. Later, Karen & I went back to look at 2 of the houses. When we arrived at the house we ended up buying, Karen had seen less than half of it & said I love it!!!!!

So as you can see, we purchased an empty shell. The electric, cabel TV, phone lines & plumbing were roughed in. There was cermic tile installed on the floors, bathroom walls & even the ramp leading into the garage. We are dissapointed to have a shingle roof instead of roof tiles, but they can be added later on.

You can purchase manufactured aluminum windows & standard doors, but we chose Aruba style cedar windows & doors which are custom made in small woodshops.

The following pictures are of our outside progress. More pictures to follow.

Thanks for the compliments, housewarming is when anyone wants to stop by!!!

It's not a villa on the ocean but we are very proud of it. It's a 5 minute drive to either Eagle or Plam Beach.

We will be stopping by in Sept. Tell us your favorite beverage so we can bring a proper housewarming gift. Wink

We planed on inviting you, Mike & Stacy over for dinner one night, early in your stay. You bring the wine, we will supply the shimp.

I can always bring the wine!!! Very Happy

I didn't even catch that....still read it as shrimp (think my mouth was watering as I read it!) Which reminds me....need to find a new place to buy my shrimp since, from what I've been told, they won't let you buy shrimp at the Barcadera any longer. Sad

Elisabeth is right.....in Aruba it's shrimps with an "S". Laughing
