Do they have a special Immigration line set-up for those who have done this or do you still get in the regular lines? I'm tempted to try this in February...

I don't think there's a special line.

But there are special lines in immigration now to use the automated passport readers upon arrival.

No. These are new for ARRIVALS into Aruba when going though Aruba immigration You do have to have one of the newer passports with the chip in it though (this would be on the front cover - looks like a gold box.)

I did not think I was coming back to the island anymore but here I am once again after more than a year.

The digital entry is a surprise and a welcome change. You still fill out the custom form on the plane but there is no interview anymore. The customs official collects your form which you have already filled. You open your passport with the picture page facing down to slide into the scanner as you would checking in at the airport. Next you look at the image in front of you. I suppose it takes your picture. That's it.

I think this feature so far applies to inbound passengers from the US only as I saw passengers from other areas still went through the old entry procedure.

Had our first dinner at El Gaucho. Order the signature Churrasco. Could not finish. There is a new Dutch restaurant next to El Gaucho called Wilhelmina (named after the grandmother of the previous queen Beatrix I suppose). Seems pretty high end by the menu prices.

Had our dinners planned out. It will be Yemanja, Flying Fishbone, Zeerovers, Newwaaitai, The Old Fisherman.

Welcome back to Aruba!

Hey - I see you're going to Lisbon next month. We were just there in Nov. Loved Portugal!

We went to Barcelona last February to watch two FC Barcelona matches and stopped by Lisbon on our way home. The Iberian Peninsula is becoming very affordable with the resurgence of the Greenbacks unlike 7 or 8 years ago when the Euro was outrageously high making it very expensive. Actually the entire Europe is very affordable now. Portugal (and maybe Greece) is particularly so. Last February the exchange rate was 1.14US to a Euro. The expenditures in Barcelona was about on par with those in the US. Now it is even better with the exchange rate at 1.09US or so.

Unfortunately ISIS is creating trouble in some part of Europe making many tourists hesitant to visit. However both Spain and Portugal are more or less immune.

Yaofeng, how about the donkeys? I know you always go to look for them. Don't worry too much on Isis. After all, even in the good old USA you can have the misfortune to run into them. Personally, I'm not happy with the exchange rates of the dollar versus the euro, but I am on the other end.
