I noticed on the other board you will be leaving Monday for Rome. That came up real fast! I'm sure you are super excited! Are you staying in Rome, or will you be moving around?

Hi Carol!

We'll be staying in Rome the entire time but doing day trips via the fast train to Florence, Tuscany, Pompeii, and Amalfi. I've seen most of it already from a previous trip but Mike has never been there so we have to do alot of the touristy stuff. We are scheduled for the Papal Audience on Aug. 20th so he's pretty excited about that.

One of the new things (for me) that we're doing is a horseback ride down The Old Appian Way which was built in 312 BC.

Couple more days of work and then I have the weekend to get ready. Using Delta and flying first class with the lie-flat seats (gotta love those frequent flyer miles!) I'll be posting a few photos on Facebook every day so Mike's mom can "travel" with us (she loves to look at the photos every morning.)

Wow! The apartment is really, really nice. I can picture you and Mike with a glass of bubbly on the balcony. Very Happy

I have an old friend who absolutely loves Italy, he spends a lot of vacations there. He always tells the story that there is artwork on every corner. So you will be taking tons of photos.

I maxed out my memory card in my camera when we were in Venice last year so I made sure to buy a bigger one this time. LOL!

Should be a fun trip but it will be HOT! I even bought a hat...and I hate hats except for the occasional baseball cap. Hope I don't look too dorkey but I wanted to stay cool and not burn in the sun.

Just wanted to check in and say hello to everyone! We are still here in Italy (arrived on Aug. 12) but slowly winding down our time. 2 more full days and then flying back on Wed. morning. It has been a fantastic trip! Feel free to "friend" me on Facebook if you want to see pics - otherwise I'll try to post a few here once we get back.

We have seen the sights of Rome, spent some time on the Amalfi Coast, took a day trip to Florence, rode horses on the Old Appian Way outside of Rome, and have eaten ALOT of pasta and gelato. LOL!

We rented an apartment right across the street from the Colosseum. This is the view from our balcony:

Some basic phrases were starting to come out naturally. But I accidentally spoke Spanish a couple of times. LOL!

We are back home now. Time to book another trip! Razz
