Yes...something on Mike's bucket list. We're going to see Waiting for Godot with Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart. We have tickets for the 2/23 matinee in the 2nd row. I think this trip will be our Christmas present to each other. Laughing

We have the flights and theater tickets booked but I'm still debating on a hotel. I've read too many reviews and looked at too many rates and I'm confusing myself now. Laughing

We were going to go to Cabo but I guess we are opting for cold NYC instead.

Let me know if you want to meet for drinks. Wink

We'll be staying in the theater district and arrive on Sat. around 1pm.

Hi Amy, I was looking forward to meeting for a drink this weekend, but unfortunately I am home with the flu. So its not really a good idea for either of us. And what fun would it be without a drink in my hand. Laughing

I hope you both enjoy the show. Try Sardi's for drinks, you may just see some famous faces. Looks like the weather will be nice and warm this weekend. Have a great trip.

Sardi's is on our list - we always go there when we're in NYC for a couple of drinks. We met Joyce Randolph (Trixie on The Honeymooners) there one year at the bar. She and her son were sitting next to us. And we also met Shirley Jones there, too.

So far, we have tickets for Waiting for Godot and then just this past week we got free tickets for David Letterman on Monday. Other than that, we will just play it by ear. Will probably do a dinner at Becco (one of our favorite "Lidia" restaurants) and we always go to the Top Of The Rock for a drink and the view.

Still bummed not seeing you...... Sad

Next trip...we'll be back again soon I'm sure!

A couple of other restaurants you might want to think about:

Don't tell Mama
B. Smiths

Both of these are located on restaurant row, W46th Street. I've met B Smith at her restaurant before, she is a delightful woman, and the food is really good too!

Don't tell Mama is a piano bar as well as a restaurant. Also good for star gazing.

Not sure about B. Smith's - little too much southern food.

Becco is an excellent choice! My favorite is Cara Mia on 9th and 47th. Or
churrascaria Plaforma a Brazilian steakhouse.

Back from NYC and had a great time! We really got lucky and had excellent weather for our first couple of days - sunny and in the 50's. It was so warm on Sunday that I just wore a sweater most of the day and didn't take a coat to the theater that afternoon which was nice.

Had a great time at the show with seats in the 2nd row (Waiting For Godot) and we waited at the stage door after the show so my husband could get his playbill signed (he loves Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart). All of the actors came out and took their time chatting and signing autographs.

We also went to the taping of the Letterman Show on Monday which was alot more fun that I thought it would be (and the price was right - free!) The theater is really small so we had great seats. Letterman came out before the show for about 5 minutes and took questions from the audience and incorporated some of those jokes into the show. His guests were Kaley Cuoco (Big Bang Theoery), the winner of the Daytona 500, and The Fray (who were excellent.)

We hit Sardi's a couple of times for drinks. Went to Becco (one of our favorites) for dinner, and went to a great champagne bar called Flute. Went to Dont' Tell Mama for a couple of drinks, too, since it was just down the street from Becco.

Went to the 911 Memorial. The entire area looks completely different since we were there in 2004 and it was still a hole in the ground.

Hit a couple of museums, too - had never been to the Guggenheim so that was a new one for us.

Even got together with a bulletin board member from another board for the very first time for drinks. (Carol - you should have been there! But I hope you're feeling better now.)
