Maybe many years ago, I did not get the connection.
I thought we were just remembering those passed from our own family...as many others seemed to be doing.
It was a ritual to go clean up the graves and make a visit.
I woke up when I realized there was always a 21-gun salute at the church cemetery...in honor of soldiers.
My Dad served during WW2. His service was not overseas.
I'm not a veteran.
We are now a thousand miles away from honoring family graves.
We did go to a local ceremony that honors all those who served. Very moving.
Anyway, we had a good holiday weekend! Hot dogs, hamburgers...and too many goodies. It was shared by almost a dozen in our senior community. A good afternoon! _________________ Life is what we make it, always has been, always will be - Grandma Moses (1860 - 1961) |

We will sometimes go to a local service here at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

My dad was in the Phillippines during WWII and his brother was in Pearl Harbor. _________________ ~Amy~®
