It was probably smoke from the dump.

Your right. Found out it was a dump fire. I was worried it was at the airport until I saw planes doing their thing. Thanks for the info. Happy New Year!!

Even though they don't officially burn stuff there anymore, occasionally things do burst into flames. Since it's near the airport it can give the impression that something happened there.

At Logan airport in Boston, there's a fuselage shaped object that they set on fire every few months for training. If you don't know it's there, it's easy to think that there's been an accident.
