Amadeus has (unfortunately for the people who loved their food) been sold. The new owners are remodeling and it will be an Italian restaurant.

Hi Amy,

I am disappointed that Amadeus has closed. Donna and I loved their food, as did you.

Restaurants close for a variety of reasons but I'm wondering if the road construction nearby was a factor.

Donna and I were in Aruba last October. So was Sasha and her husband. Check out my TR from October 2013, and the comments, both about the TR and on my thread "Random Thoughts...". We both intended to go to Amadeus but didn't because of the construction. Just from us, that's four dinners they couldn't serve.

Depending how long that construction lasted, there could have been many more customers like us who just found it too difficult to navigate the detour, especially in the dark. No customers, no dinners, no cash, and pretty soon no restaurant.

Of course it could have been, as I said, any number of other factors; like the owners sucking all the cash out it or the place being severely under-capitalized from the get-go. Sorry, that's the accountant in me coming out.

Another Italian restaurant in its place?

The restaurant scene in Aruba is very similar to that found on Maui. Restaurants in both places range from long-established favourites to places that are newly opened then quickly closed in between our visits.

Have a great weekend Amy, and everybody else.

Glenn

Hi Glenn,

The owner (Thomas) also does work all day at DePalm Island handling their food and beverage. Between the two jobs he was never home and wanted to spend more time with his kids. So he decided to keep the "day job" and put Amadeus up for sale. Now he can be at home at night with his kids before they grow up too quickly. He seems very happy with his decision. Very Happy

OH NO!! First time here and I get this kind of news!! Loved Amadeus from the first visit years ago and made our yearly trek there, sometimes more than once. Got hooked on their Symphony liquor too....what will be come of it?

So disappointed. I hear that Barney's has schnitzel that falls off the plate
too - anybody here of it? Been to Bravaria (?) and it's okay, but nothing like
Amadeus.

We've been to Barney's many times (good food) but have never tried their schnitzel.

Not sure what will happen to the Lost Symphony after dinner drink....I will definitely miss that, too. Sad

Wow. Disappointed to hear they are closed especially as Glenn said we missed going there last year because of the road construction. We started making our restaurant list for our November trip...guess we will have to cross this one off.
