|
|
The first international airports to see regularly scheduled commercial service on Southwest-branded planes will be Aruba, Montego Bay (Jamaica) and Nassau in the Bahamas.
Beginning July 1, the airline will fly to those destinations out of Atlanta (Aruba and Montego Bay), Baltimore/Washington (to all three) and from Orlando (Montego Bay and Aruba).
The carrier promised more routes and cities would be added as the merger integration continues.
Southwest says its AirTran-operated routes will continue for now, but that it will eventually attempt to fold most of those into Southwest-operated service.

We've been flying AirTran for the past 3 years...non-stop from Orlando.
Now owned by Southwest, I assume it will eventually be totally absorbed. Out of curiosity, I checked Southwest, but they are not showing flights for September right now. You can schedule into early August.
To be honest, I was worried that SW would end Aruba flights. The non-stops from Orlando have been great...slightly under 3 hours. _________________ Life is what we make it, always has been, always will be - Grandma Moses (1860 - 1961) |

Thanks for the tip on Southwest. We are planning our first tip, and Southwest is not in the typical search engines, or choices via the resort sites, etc.

I just booked with Southwest last week for October. One of the great advantages is that they don't charge for first two pieces of luggage. _________________
