Spent the day on DePalm Island yesterday - haven't been there in about 10 years. Had a nice breakfast buffet, followed by SNUBA training, then SNUBA in the afternoon followed by drinks and lunch. It was fun to be back there again and see the big blue parrotfish.

Stopped at The West Deck on the way back for a drink at sunset. Nice place and ran into 3 friends there. One is now the driver for the trolley! So, he talked us into it and we are headed downtown to see and ride the elusive trolley. Mike asked if he could drive but that didn't really fly. Laughing

Had a nice dinner at Mango's last night - fish, fish, and more fish!

This morning we hit the beach walk early and walked from Amsterdam Manor to the Divi and back. The beach at Manchebo and Aruba Beach Club is HUGE! Saw the jumping/flying fish again - as did the pelicans and they had quite the morning buffet. LOL!

Learned the hard way how not to feed the parrot fish on DePalm Island. T went in with a slice of bread and accidentally put my hand in the water with the bread.

Those parrot fish drew blood with my fingers. Not smart at all! Loved the island, meals, and free drinks. We will do it again but not on this trip. Want to do something different this time.

Ouch with the parrot fish! They do have quite the chompers!

Okay, so today we DID find the trolley (or it found us as we walked along Main St.) We hopped on (it was free) and road to the end of the line. At that point everyone needs to either get off or help with flipping the seatbacks so they're going in the opposite direction since the trolley will now go in a different direction. We flipped our seatback while laughing...and then on our way again back to the cruise ship dock. It's a slow ride but it's relaxing until they make a turn and it screeches loudly. But we did have a fun time!

Had a drink at The Local Store. Then another one at Carpe Diem which was decorated nicely but our drinks were the same price except smaller than the ones we had at The Local Store.

Then to the West Deck for lunch. Had a great time chatting with Raul who is a great guy!

Back "home" to the hotel and then the mgr's cocktail party at Horizons Bar followed by a wine dinner on the beach which was out of this world. Amazing food and wine pairings! Great night with great friends.

Had a nightcap at Fusion to listen to music and now off to la-la land.

Beach day tomorrow!

Curious Amy.... Question
How long is a one way ride on the trolley?
Is there only one trolley going back and forth?
Was is it popular?
Were all the passengers seated?

Thanks!

There are two trolleys who go back and forth - one is green and brass and the other blue and brass. The blue one is a double decker.

It goes from the cruise ship terminal to the very end of Main Street and back again. It makes a few stops along the way. A lot of people were using it but there were 2 cruise ships in town yesterday. It was busy but seemed like there was always room (seats) available. Everyone sits and no one is allowed to hang on the side steps (like in San Fran.) They play some nice Caribbean music, too.

At the end of the route, the just reverse the trolley. This is where you get off and they flip over the seatbacks (we did this ourselves) so you're pointing in the right direction. Only in Aruba...LOL!!!

It moved kind of slow but it was still fun. I'll try to post photos later.....

Sun is up! It's a beach day for us today!

Was your power off this morning? At first I was told just the north end, then found out it was island wide. Airport area was restored first, then downtown. I am leaving today, and I usually try to go to Linda's Pancakes on my way out of town. Drats, no power. Then I tried DeliFrance. No power. Next attempt was to be Dutch Pancake House downtown. The road to O'stad was clogged all the way back past Wendy's.

I decided to chuck that idea & head to the airport via the double secret back way. Went past Sultan & hallelujah, they were open. Had a nice chicken shoarma wrap for brunch.

Returned the car & got to the airport around noon. By 1:15 I had cleared all obstacles & checkpoints with no strip searches. Plane doesn't leave for another 2+ hours. Good thing I have time left on my wifi card so that I can annoy all of you.

Bye Amy. Had a great time with you & Mike this week. I will miss you.
