Even though they don't officially burn stuff there anymore, occasionally things do burst into flames. Since it's near the airport it can give the impression that something happened there.

Best place for lunch around Baby Beach is Charlie's Bar in San Nicolas. Not technically near Baby Beach but it's a good place to stop while you're in the area.

It does look interesting.
Price is a little on the high side, but not high enough for me to totally rule it out. It is a two-hour tour, so I suspect you're worn out after it ends.

One suggestion is to buy a snorkel at home and bring it with you. That way you have your own mouthpiece and not sharing with the island.....they take up very little room and don't weigh much.
