First trip to Aruba. Arriving end of June. Any insights to Casa Del Mar would be appreciated. Lots of helpful suggestions and ideas here but no mention of this hotel. Thanks for your help.

hi megan - we own seven weeks at this resort and love it. Go to their website at: www.casadelmar-aruba.com and scan down to see photos and a list of the amenities. It is on the beach, clean with great service. I leave Sunday for another two weeks.

We're owners since 1988 - visited every year since that time.
The resort has kept Gold Crown status from RCI. Everything was refurbished in the last 2-3 years. Beach in front of the actual resort comes and goes - but it is usually better in front of the sister resort - Aruba Beach Club. They are joined, but now operate (mostly) as separate clubs. Members/guests of each one share the amenities of both - 3 pools, hot tubs, shops, gym-exercise room etc.
The Casa Del Mar restaurant (IMHO) is so-so. To be honest, we rarely go there - too many actual and reported disappointments. The Tortuga Grill at ABC is reasonably priced and good for lunch. You can get a good breakfast and lunch next door at Manchebo Beach Resort, dinner is also recommended at the French Steakhouse at MBR. Alhambra casino is just across the street, a shopping bazaar (which has seen better days) is behind the casino. Dunkin Donuts, Subway, TCBY Yogurt and a bagel shop are on the street/across the street. Catch the bus to town across the street from the casino - $2 round trip. The cluster of 3 supermarkets are about 6/10 of a mile away - we sometimes walk with small loads just after sunset.
Hope this helps.

I am going to Casa Del Mar in April 2002. I will post a trip report when I return and let you know how everything is.

Do you have any specific questions or things you are looking for? Try looking on their website.

I can not wait only 83days to go.....

Megan - What days will you be there in June? My husband and I are also going to CDM on June 15-22!:) We are so excited, it is our first trip to Aruba and the Carribean! I've heard great things about the resort and the island. I've heard this section of Aruba is more relaxing. So, I'm sure you will have a great time! :) 116 Days to Go for Us!

Sorry took so long to respond. Had two trips to Vegas in between my last posting. We will be arriving June 22- leaving 29th for a week in St. Martin. I have heard mixed reviews about Aruba, but want to see for myself. The resort sounds like it has mixed reviews as well. I am sure I will have a good time. My husband is the diver so as long as diving is fine things will work out. Thanks for all your help.
