I love Aruba and the Westin is a great location with terrific people. (if you go, ask to be on the 12th floor - the Housekeeper Lynette is wonderful and will take care of you. Lots of extra towels and she even followed up on fixing our scale!)
The Pago Pago dining room is terrific. Order the macadamia nut grouper and you will be in 7th heaven! The waiters are all very friendly and very funny so expect an enjoyable eveing.
On the down side, the carpeting is getting a bit grungy and some areas are in need of sprucing up. Also, the elevators are painfully slow. The outside dining has a few tables in the shade but most are in direct sun so we usually went to the Hyatt or Gilligans for lunch.
It wouldn't take much for this place to be superb and we will continue to return each year.
I really love this Hotel.. Every time we visit the island we stay here.. The staff is friendly, the hotel is beautiful and the amenities are great. I definitely recommmend it.
My husband and I just returned from a week long vacation at the Westin Resort in Aruba. What a wonderful, relaxing experience! From our arrival to departure we couldn't have asked for better service. Each and every staff person went above and beyond to accommodate our every request. From our lovely room with its wonderful view and exceptionally comfortable bed, to the very good food and excellent drinks we were served, we can't say enough about the Westin. We hope to return soon!
The Westin was absolutely wonderful! We loved all the staff who answered every question promptly and many knew us by name by the end of the week's stay! We enjoyed the pool and the morning aerobics class, the beach side bar was very nice as well! Although we had an ocean view room it was quite nice, except for the construction at the hotel next door, however they did not seem to bother us much with noise. The beds were very comfortable and the room clean! The location was good, with shopping and dining within a short walking distance and a quick ride to town either via taxi or bus. We will definitely visit the Westin again soon and recommend it to others! Its a great place to relax and forget about everyday worries!
We will never stay at The Westin again. My husband and I were staying at The Westin in October, 2007. The hotel was under a lot of renovations so instead of hearing the steel drum music of the island, we were serenaded by hammers and drills. We were overcharged on several occasions throughout our stay and on the final day, we went to the desk to clear up all unnecessary charges. We were assured that it had been taken care of, only to return home to the States with it having not been. We placed several long distance calls to the hotel to fix the problem on our dime. Going on a vacation is about relaxing but they only added more stress. The staff even admitted to not being able to handle issues such as these and blamed it on "new management." Don't waste your time. Stay somewhere else.
In true Westin fashion the room was very nice, excellent bed, truly a great night sleep. The staff was courteous and very friendly. Our only complaint was that our toilet "wax seal" leaked, we reported it, but it was not taken care of. The housekeeping staff always left us extra towels though and removed and replaced them from the floor morning and night.
The Westin was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in and I have stayed in many. Tony the bell boy went out of his way to make sure our stay was a memorable one. Because of the kind attention and friendly staff I will definitely go back to Aruba and definitely stay at the Westin. You will not regret it - it was a wonderful vacation and one that I will not soon forget!
The Westin is nice, but not among the nicest places on the Island from what I saw. The important things such as the pool and beach, food and drinks, the heavenly shower and bed, and overall service were generally very good. The concierges, doormen, activities staff, waiters and even the folks at the desk were helpful (once you got to them). The room was well laid out, spacious, clean, nicely appointed and everything worked; nifty TV, too. We asked for a fridge, which came quickly and worked fine. We definitely enjoyed the free activites, such as beach and pool volleyball, 2 lit tennis courts, bocce, and the manager’s (free) cocktail reception was a very nice touch. Little things were annoying, such as the wait time to get to a room when we arrived (25 minutes -- there were three desk employees checking more then 30 couples and groups in), the swarm of baggage handlers all competing for the bags, the wait time to get to the front desk to ask questions, the fact that we were given a different bed setup than requested, missing drawer pulls on the bureau, the AC which worked but never seemed to get cool enough. I felt like I got a good deal for what I paid and would stay there again (basically, they just need more desk staff). Note: there is construction at a hotel next door, but there was surprisingly NOT a noise issue – the sliders to the balconies are airtight. This construction is very substantial and looks as if it will be going on for many months.
I WENT ON SEP 06 FOR MY HONEYMOON, AND IS ONE OF THE BEST HOTELS MY WIFE AND I HAVE STAYED, ALSO IT`S THE BEST ON ARUBA AND THE BEACH IS GORGEOUS
