Just Wonderful

Having taken a chance and booked The Boardwalk, sight unseen, from the Internet, I wanted to take a couple of moments to give my opinion to those who might be doing the same.

I will start by saying that upon our next visit to Aruba we wouldn?t stay anywhere else. That should give an indication as to how much we enjoyed our stay at The Boardwalk. Our casita was ?the best? -- clean, spacious, with every amenity one could want. Felt like being home away from home. Sitting in the evening on our private patio overlooking the lucsious greenery was so relaxing. Popping in to make a quick snack in the fully stocked kitchen was the best (or better yet, grilling chicken on our personal bar-b-que). Additionally, the fact that I could go to bed at night in a separate bedroom while hubby watched TV in the living room was very different from a one-room hotel!

So, is there a drawback of not being on the beach at a big hotel one might wonder? I don?t think so, and here is why. It is a three-minute, beautiful walk to the beach next to the Marriott. Since the Marriott is the last ?big? hotel on the strip, the beach was open and uncrowded. Now, you could leave your hotel room, walk down the hall, wait for an elevator, stop a every floor while descending, then make you way through the crowds to the beach. By that time, I would have had my blanket spread, suntan lotion applied and be ready for my first swim of the day! I can?t tell you how many times my husband and I commented on the ?poor people? who chose to stay at a big, crowded, impersonal hotel.

Also, with an all inclusive hotel stay, you don?t get to sample the fine restaurants of Aruba. We did not have one disappointing meal. Whether it was hamburgers at Iguana Joes, seafood at The Flying Fisherman, or the best steak at El Gaucho, it beat eating at the same restaurant/hotel every day!

Last, but not least, the staff at The Boardwalk was nothing short of exceptional. Friendly, accommodating, and just all around nice people! The personal touches were seen and felt every day of our stay.

To Friends and Staff at The Boardwalk Vacation Retreat,

Returned from beautiful, warm Aruba to a very cold, snowy Pennsylvania!
